In August 2016, Ford recalled about 91,000 vehicles worldwide due to faulty fuel pump control modules. With more government agencies supervising the testing of automobiles, there has been an increase in recalls reported in recent years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported a total of 51 million cars recalled in 2015 for all U.S. automakers combined.
